Plasma-Based Reflective Surface for Polarization Conversion

This study analyses, for the first time, use of reflective surfaces based on magnetized plasmas polarization conversion. The feasibility this concept has been assessed via a theoretical model. Moreover, numerical design plasma-based surface is presented. latter enables linear-to-linear (LP-to-LP) and linear-to-circular (LP-to-CP) conversion over broad frequency range, from 7.5 to 13 GHz. To end, applied magnetic field intensity be tunable 55–140 mT its direction steerable toward three mutual orthogonal axes. At same plasma density controlled up ${2\times 10^{18}}\,\,\text{m}{^{-3}}$ . These requirements are consistent with technology at state-of-the-art.
